What is antique brass?

Antique brass is a darker, deliberately aged brass finish, designed to look as though it has developed a natural patina over many years of use, rather than the bright shine of a new polished brass fitting. In our own range this finish is sold as Aged Brass, and it remains one of the most popular choices for anyone renovating a period property who wants hardware that looks as though it has always been there.

Because the finish is already darkened during manufacture, it is more forgiving of everyday wear than polished brass, and any further ageing over time tends to blend in rather than stand out.
